Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be honoured with an awardfrom the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation for his initiative of Swachh BharatAbhiyaan campaign, in yet another feather in his cap. The PM will be conferredwith the award during his visit to the US in September.
Taking to microblogging site Twitter, Minister of State forDevelopment of North Eastern Region, Jitendra Singh, made the announcement,adding that it is 'another moment of pride for every Indian'.
"Another award, another moment of pride for everyIndian, as PM Modi's diligent and innovative initiatives bring laurels fromacross the world. Sh @narendramodi to receive an award from Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation for#SwachhBharatAbhiyaan during his visit to the United States," tweetedSingh. The award from Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation will get added to thelist of many accolades and awards conferred upon PM Modi since he assumed hisoffice in 2014.
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) conferred its highestcivilian honour - 'Order of Zayed' on PM Modi in August. The award waspresented to the Prime Minister by Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy SupremeCommander of the UAE Armed Forces Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan at the PresidentialPalace in Abu Dhabi.
PM Modi was also conferred with King Hamad Order of theRenaissance by the King of Bahrain in August itself. While accepting the awardPM Modi had said, "I feel very honoured and fortunate to be awarded TheKing Hamad Order of the Renaissance. I am equally honoured by your majesty'sfriendship for me and for my country. I humbly accept this prestigious honouron behalf of 1.3 billion Indians." The King Hamad Order of the Renaissanceor for Development was founded by King Hamad II on 17th April 2008. The awardis to recognises services towards the development of the nation. Bahrain is thesecond country of the Gulf to confer an award to PM Modi followed by the UAE.
In April 2019, Russia awarded its highest state honour'Order of St Andrew the Apostle' to PM Modi for promoting bilateral andstrategic partnership between the two countries.
